How to Make Doll Size Wire Rim Glasses Frames

Sometimes just the right accessory makes an ensemble perfect. Likewise, sometimes the right miniature accessory makes the doll or doll ensemble more realistic or detailed. A book in hand and a pair of glasses automatically evokes images of students and school. Wire rim glasses are a special touch for elderly character dolls or scholarly child dolls and are easily created at home with minimal skills.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure from ear to ear across the doll̵7;s nose and face and add 4 inches to this measurement, and cut a piece of 22-24 gauge craft wire to this length.

    • 2

Place the wire on a flat surface and put one end of the wire into the grip of the needlenose pliers.

    • 3

Bend the end into a hook shape (half circle).

    • 4

Measure the length between the doll̵7;s ear and the doll̵7;s eye, then mark this length on the wire, from the hook to the center. For example, if there are 2 inches between the doll̵7;s ear and the doll̵7;s eye, begin measuring the wire at the hook and to the 2-inch mark on the tape measure.

    • 5

Place a pencil beneath the measured spot and wrap the wire around the pencil forming a circle. Remove the pencil.

    • 6

Measure the length between the doll̵7;s eyes, then measure the wire from the pencil-formed circle to the measured length between the doll̵7;s eyes. Place the pencil at this spot.

    • 7

Wrap the wire around the pencil to form a second circle. Remove the pencil.

    • 8

Place the glasses on the doll̵7;s face and place the end of the wire that is not formed into a hook over the doll̵7;s ear. Cut off the excess wire and shape the end into a hook or half circle as you did the other end. Place the glasses on the doll.
