Things You'll Need
Instructions
Gently comb tangles out of the human hair while it is wet using a rat tail comb and your fingers. For synthetic hair, spray a liquid fabric softener on the hair and comb with a wig wire or pet brush. Make sure your brush has never been used on a human or pet before, as this will transfer oils to your doll.
Soak the human hair wig in a mixture of Woolite and cold water, then set it on a towel. Dab up excess water with another towel, then place it on a dry towel to dry. Gently curl synthetic hair around your fingers with the wig wire or pet brush. You can also put in soft foam curlers to add more volume, but never spray synthetic hair with hair spray or use hot curling tools.
Let the mohair or human hair wig dry. Replace curls by putting in soft foam curlers. You can also add curls by using a curling iron, but be very careful (this can only be done on human or mohair wigs and not on synthetic wigs). Test it out on a strand of hair first. If it seems to be hurting the hair, stick to soft foam curlers.
Place the wig back on the doll's head, making sure it is secure once again. Replace any kind of hats or accessories that were on the doll's head.
Replace braids or hairstyles using the wig wire or pet brush. You can use tan rubber bands to keep the hair in place. When brushing the doll's hair, make sure you brush extremely gently and do not pull. After finishing with your doll, make sure to store her in a place that is neither extremely hot or cold. Do not smoke around your doll and make sure to dust her as much as possible.
