Types of Dolls

• There are two basic types of Baby Alive dolls. There are those that drink water and those that eat food and perhaps drink water as well.

Function

• As the Baby Alive doll eats the food, the food is passed into her diaper.

Alternatives to Baby Alive Food

• Because the Baby Alive food is made of colorings, food preservatives and other ingredients, any alternative food must have similar ingredients that will not promote the growth of bacteria.

Version 1: Alternative Baby Alive Food Recipe

• Sorbitol (available online and in some health food stores) is an ingredient in the manufactured version. This can be added to water to make food.

Version 2: Alternative Baby Alive Food Recipe

• Mix a product sold under the brand name of ClearJel with powdered food coloring and water. The food coloring should be of a non-staining variety.

Version 3: Alternative Baby Alive Food Recipe

• Mix 1 tbsp. baking soda and 1 tbsp. water. Then add one or two drops of food coloring. Note that this version may stain the Baby Alive doll.
