How to Remove an Ink Spot From Antique Porcelain Dolls

Restoring antique dolls is becoming a very popular--and profitable--hobby. You can find vintage and antique dolls at flea markets, antique stores, consignment stores, and even yard sales. While some people like to collect dolls that show their age, others would like the dolls to appear in the same pristine condition as when they were first made. One of the first steps to restore antique dolls is to clean off any dirt and stains, which may include ink spots.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Spray hairspray on the ink stain. Give it a good coating. Wipe the area with a paper towel. Repeat these three steps until the ink comes off. If the ink doesn't budge, move on to the next step.

    • 2

Lightly moisten a Magic Eraser with water and rub it gently on the ink stain. Don't scrub. The mild abrasive surface should "erase" the stain. If this doesn't work, move on to the next step.

    • 3

Put nail polish remover on a clean paper towel. Rub it onto the stain to remove the ink. The ink stain should be removed now.

    • 4

Clean the area with mild soap and water to remove any of the solutions you used to get rid of the ink stain.
