Instructions

    • 1

Lie your child's doll on a flat surface. Lie your measuring tape next to the doll and measure its length the same way you would measure a child's height on the door jamb. Start at the toes and stop at the head. If you are creating several sleeping bags, measure each doll and write down the length.

    • 2

Measure the width of each doll. Account for frilly or bulging clothing that might take up extra space once it is slid into the sleeping bag.

    • 3

Cut your cloth based on the measurements. Always add an inch or two to allow for seams. Depending on the type of seam you apply, one to two extra inches will be needed to make sure the doll fits properly.

    • 4

Lie the doll on the cut cloth to ensure that your measurements were accurate. The cloth should run the entire length and width of the doll. If your cloth seems too big, even with the seam allowance, trim some edges off. If it is too small, remeasure and cut again.

Alternate the pattern of sleeping bag based on the style your child wants. Some sleeping bags run passed the head and act as a pillow, while others stop at the neck. Some will fold and some will zip. Look into all available options because each will alter the size of the bag.
