How to Convert a Fisher Price Smart Cycle From Batteries to a Wall Adaptor

Fisher Price's Smart Cycle is an educational video game system that combines exercise with learning. Suitable for ages 3 to 6, the system is fairly adaptable for growing families and children. However, the bike does not have the option for an AC adapter, even as a separate purchase, and children cannot use their physical force ̵2; via biking ̵2; to generate energy, therefore size "D" batteries must be used in large quantities to use this system. With a few household items and less than $10 in parts, however, the Smart Cycle can be reconfigured for more convenient power options.

Instructions

    • 1

Disassemble the base and main body of the Smart Cycle. You need to access the area where the power leads are, which is in the neck of the cycle ̵2; where the handlebars attach to the bike.

    • 2

Drill a small hole for the wire leads in the front of the main cycle body. Be sure to make the hole close enough to the existing power leads that you can make a connection.

    • 3

Locate the black and red power leads inside the neck assembly of the bike. Splice the new leads from the two-prong power lead into them. Add solder and wrap in electrical tape to secure the connection.

    • 4

Reassemble the bike. Plug the pronged end of the power lead into the adapter. Plug the adapter into the wall. Connect the A/V cables to the television. Insert a game cartridge and turn on the bike.
