How to Make a Rubik's Cube Turn Faster

When solving a Rubik's cube, you can learn all kinds of techniques to increase your speed of play. One way is to learn algorithms. However, algorithms won't affect the speed at which the cube sections turn. After you play with a cube for a few weeks, it will naturally move faster. If, after this, you still wish to increase the speed at which the cube turns, you will have to lubricate the cube. This is called "speedcubing."

Things You'll Need

• Screwdriver
• Silicone spray lubricant

     Rotate one side of the cube 45 degrees.

   • 2

     Pop off one of the pieces on the side you just rotated with the screwdriver.

   • 3

     Squirt some of the silicone lubricant into the center of the cube through the hole where the removed piece was.

   • 4

     Replace the removed piece.

   • 5

     Play with the cube for about 10 minutes to distribute the lubricant.

   • 6

     Re-lubricate the cube every few hundred times you solve the cube.
