How to Load Files to a TI-89

The Texas Instruments 89 calculator is a powerful device that not only can compute complex equations and do graphing work, but it can also store files and even run games, if they're in the right format. Of course, before you can do any of this, you first have to transfer the necessary files onto the calculator itself. This is accomplished through the use of specialized software and a USB cable that comes bundled with the calculator.

Things You'll Need

TI Connect install CD
TI-89 USB cable

Instructions

  Turn on your computer and insert the TI Connect install disc into your CD drive.

  Follow the install instructions when they auto-load on your screen to setup TI Connect on your computer.

  Plug your USB cable into your computer once TI Connect has finished installing, and then plug your calculator into the cable and double-click the TI Connect icon to start the program. Click the "TI DeviceExplorer" option to bring up a new explorer window.

  Open "My Computer" and navigate to the files you wish to transfer onto your calculator.

  Drag and drop the files from the "My Computer" window into the TI Connect explorer window. This will transfer the files from your computer onto your TI-89.
