How to Troubleshoot Moon Sand Problems

Invented to bring the fun of wet sand inside without the mess, Moon Sand is a reusable, dough-like sand that never dries out. Distributed by Spin Master, Moon Sand comes in many different colors, including some with glitter, and is sold with different play molds. Made in Sweden, Moon Sand is non-toxic and conforms to ASTM product safety standards. It is also wheat, gluten, milk, egg, casein and peanut free. Moon Sand is easy to use as long as it doesn&'t come in contact with the wrong items and is properly cared for.

Instructions

    • 1

Moon Sand is ready to use right out of the container. Do not add water or any other liquid to it to mix it. If you have accidentally added water, spread the Moon Sand thinly over a hard surface or tray and allow it to air dry.

    • 2

If your Moon Sand is too hard or crumbly, squish it in your hands for a few minutes until it expands and softens.

    • 3

Wash your hands before playing with Moon Sand to prevent dirt or contaminants from mixing with the Moon Sand and ruining its consistency or stickiness.

    • 4

If you can&'t get Moon Sand out of a mold, turn it upside down, tap on the back of the mold and gently squeeze. If that doesn&'t work, empty the mold and try packing it with less sand.

    • 5

According to Spin Master, Moon Sand contains a "special colorless ingredient" that makes it moldable. After repeated play, the secret chemical in Moon Sand can stay behind in the molds and make them difficult to use. To remedy this, regularly clean the molds with a liquid detergent that is tough on grease, and let them dry thoroughly.

    • 6

Do not let Moon Sand itself come into contact with any soap or detergent, as this will ruin its consistency.

    • 7

Wash your hands after playing with Moon Sand to remove any chemical residue and to prevent sand from entering your eyes. If Moon Sand gets in your eyes, flush with clean water immediately.
