Instructions for a Rubber Band Gun

Guns may be dangerous, but there are few boys in any generation who haven̵7;t made a rubber band gun. A rubber band gun combines both the propellant for the projectile and the projectile in the same piece of rubber. There are as many methods for making a rubber band gun as there are rubber band gun enthusiasts, but the simplest ones can be made using a few common household items.

Things You'll Need

Newspaper
Two plastic pens
Rubber band
Cellophane tape
Pliers

Instructions

  Put newspaper down on a table. Unscrew a plastic pen. Toss away all of the contents. Screw the plastic pen back together. Repeat this process with another plastic pen.

  Use pliers to pull off the pocket clip from one of the two plastic pens.

  Place the plastic pen with the pocket clip down on the newspaper with the pocket clip at the left side. Place either end of the other plastic pen against the right end of the plastic pen that has the pocket clip. Tape the ends together with cellophane tape but do not cover the pocket clip.

  Pick up the taped together plastic pens in your left hand. Put the rubber band under the pocket clip. Put a finger of your left hand in front of the pocket clip to keep the rubber band from coming off.

  Use your right hand to stretch the rubber band over to the end of the two plastic pens that have been taped together. Put the end of the rubber band over the end of the plastic pen.

  Aim the rubber band gun you have made at a wall. Take your finger away from the pocket clip to fire the rubber band.
