How It Works
The Fly Pentop computer uses digital paper and a special pattern decoding technology developed by a company known as Anato. This technology, as well as a special built-in camera, enables it to track what the user is writing.

The Fly Pen is the first platform of its type that is able to give instant audio feedback to what the user draws and writes. The RAM budget for handwriting recognition is 32 kb. The characters recognized per second is 4.8. The Fly Pen contains an English lexicon of 7,000 words.
Target Market Goals
Tweens were the target market when the Fly Pen was designed by Leapfrog. Features a tween (ages 7 to 14) find particularly attractive include a built-in journal and learning games based on popular books or characters such as Harry Potter and Batman. The Fly Pen was designed with the goal of making learning fun.
Fly Pen Learning Activities
Most of the learning activities for the Fly Pen require various add-ons that must be purchased. Some of these include a special calculator, a notepad, and spelling and math learning software. Other learning games that also work with the Fly Pen as well. The Fly Pen can also be programmed to help with homework.
Purchasing the Fly Pen
The Fly Pen has gone through some upgrades and can now be purchased through Leapfrog.com as the Fly Fusion Pen Computer. The 2009 price is $79.95, but this includes the Fly Pentop Computer and USB cable, 13 games and an MP3 player. It can be purchased where learning toys and games are sold, such as toy stores.
