Moon in My Room Instructions

Moon in My Room is a toy by Uncle Milton recommended for children ages 6 years and up. It's a moon that's mounted on a wall and lights up automatically in the dark with 12 lunar phases like a real moon. It comes with a 15-minute audio CD with interesting information about the moon and a remote control to manually control the light. Instructions for mounting Moon in My Room are simple and only take a few minutes.
  1. Installing Batteries in the Unit

    • The battery cover of the Moon in My Room unit should be removed using a small Phillips screwdriver. Four double-A (AA) batteries should be inserted inside the battery compartment, making sure that the plus and minus ends are inserted correctly where they belong. The cover should be screwed back in place, and the on/off switch should be switched to the on position.

Installing Batteries in the Remote Control

    • The battery cover of the remote control should be removed using a small Phillips screwdriver. Two triple-A (AAA) batteries should be inserted inside the battery compartment, making sure that the plus and minus ends are inserted correctly where they belong. The cover should be screwed back in place. Take note that the moon will not activate without the use of the remote control.

    Battery Safety

    • Be sure to follow battery safety precautions when installing batteries in the unit and the remote control. Children should not install nor replace batteries, and batteries must be disposed of safely. Old and new batteries should not be used together and dead or exhausted batteries should be replaced. If the unit and remote control are not being used for a long time, the batteries should be removed as leakage and corrosion can cause damage. For best performance, alkaline batteries should be used.

    Hanging the Unit

    • Moon in My Room is best installed on a vertical wall. The moon has three vertical holes in the back of the unit directly above the battery compartment. The unit may be mounted on a wall by one of the three holes depending on the angle desired, which affects the crescent's angle. Once a hole has been selected, the unit should be mounted on a nail or wall hook that is securely hammered into the wall.

    Using the Remote Conrol

    • The remote control has three buttons. The automatic phase button allows the moon to automatically light up and cycle through the moon phases when the room is dark and turns off after 30 minutes. The manual phase button allows the user to manually cycle through the moon phases and if left on in a phase, automatically turns off after 30 minutes. The on/off button turns the moon on and off and can permanently turn the unit off even if the room is dark by pressing the button for five seconds. Holding the button again for five seconds turns the moon on and enables the auto light sensor.
