Resale Value
Of all the sets that LEGO manufactures, LEGO Star Wars kits are known to retain, and even substantially increase, in value. Resales of kits that retailed for approximately $100 have sold on eBay for as much as three times that amount after several years. If you plan to resell your LEGO set after you have played with it, be sure to keep the box and keep the instructions in good shape. A set does not have to be perfect to have excellent resale value, just complete.
Sorting
LEGO Star Wars collectors with substantial collections, especially those who focus on large custom Star Wars models, find it easiest to sort and store their LEGO by part, rather than by kit. This can most effectively be done with storage for garages and hobbies, such as a plastic unit with lots of small drawers. Sorting bricks by size and then color will make them easy to find when a particular part is necessary. For storing LEGO by kits instead of by part, small plastic containers are excellent.
Building
It can be easy to lose track of pieces, particularly the small, specialty pieces that Star Wars LEGO kits tend to have, so when you build, do so in a contained area. A large, shallow cardboard box or a hobby table are both excellent surfaces on which to work. A towel will also work as an alternative, as it makes pieces easier to spot and less likely to bounce. LEGO also sells a green plastic wrench for taking kits apart. Many Star Wars LEGO sets feature some intricately placed parts that are difficult to separate and this makes it much easier.
