Find a retailer that sells both systems. In order to compare pricing information, visit a store that sells both the Leapster and V-Smile. You can find these learning tools on Amazon.com and at Toys R Us.
Look at the age range for each toy. The Leapster is listed as a toy appropriate for children between the ages of 4 and 10. V-Smile is recommended for children between the ages of 9 months and 9 years old.
Consider the accessories available for each system. The V-Smile has a larger line of accessories, including joysticks and dance mats. V-Smile has about 50 game titles in its library. The Leapster does not have extra accessories and has about 40 titles.
Compare the awards given to the learning systems. The Leapster has won numerous accolades, including the 2004 T.O.T.Y. award for best educational toy. The V-Smile was honored with the 2008 National Parenting Center Seal of Approval.
View the different games for each system. Both systems appeal to preschool children by offering titles featuring favorite cartoon characters. Leapster has games with Dora the Explorer, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Finding Nemo. V-Smile's lineup includes games featuring the Wiggles, Bob the Builder and Shrek.
