How to Make a Toy Box Barn

Make the best out of a rainy day with your children by creating a barn out of a cardboard box. This activity allows your child to be creative in the painting and decorating of the barn. You can even have your child(ren) stock the barn with any animals they have in their toy bin. This craft requires only a few items and is inexpensive.

Things You'll Need

Cardboard box
Cardboard sheet
Marker
Scissors
Kids paint
Newspaper

Instructions

  Place the box with the top of it open and draw a roof line on the sides of your cardboard box.

  Cut along the roof line that you marked.

  Draw two rectangular shapes next to each other on the side that has the point of the roof. Cut the inner, top and bottom lines. Do not cut the outer left and right lines because these are the hinges to the doors.

  Take the cardboard sheet, fold in half, lengthwise, and glue to the top of your barn. The cardboard sheet should be an inch longer than the barn and wider than the two triangular tops of the barn.

  Draw windows on the side of your barn with your marker.

  Paint your barn red, windows black and the roof white.
