How to Make Homemade Toys for Babies

Baby toys can be expensive, and as fast as babies grow they are quickly left behind. Parents can easily spend $20, $30, even $50 on toys that their baby may only play with for a few months. Parents who want to save money without limiting their baby's playtime can instead make low cost homemade versions of many toys. These homemade baby toys are just as fun, without costing an arm and a leg.

Instructions

Fill a small, plastic, non-breakable bottle with rice or seeds. Screw the lid on tightly so that it will not come off or leak. The Dollar Stretcher suggests using only a handful of rice to create a rattle sound. Add other items such as bells for a different sound.

Gather and wash several empty milk cartons of various sizes. Stuff the cartons with paper; BabyZone suggests newspaper for this. Fold the ends down and tape them shut. Make Baby Stuff suggests wrapping the milk cartons in wallpaper scraps to decorate them.

Stuff a clean sock with an empty, clean potato chip bag. Tie the sock at the end to hold the bag in. The Dollar Stretcher also suggests using wrapping paper and pantyhose to create this noisy toy.
