Instructions

    • 1

Cut the juice carton in half, lengthwise.

    • 2

Cut the blocks of floral foam so that it will fit easily inside one half of the juice box, level with the cuts down the sides. The foam will help the box float and add stability.

    • 3

Wrap the entire project firmly with duct tape, overlapping the edges. You can use colored duct tape to give your boat stripes.

    • 4

Place the chopsticks so that one rests against each side of the smaller sides of the boat, and extends 2 or more inches past its back. Duct tape them in place. At this point, you may decorate your boat with waterproof acrylic paints or plastic stickers. You can also use a third chopstick to make a mast in the foam.

    • 5

Cut small slits halfway through the long side of the hard plastic pieces. The hard plastic pieces themselves may be cut from other household items, like laundry detergent bottles, cheap plastic rulers or old plastic containers. Arranging the pieces so that the new slits are facing each other and the pieces form an "X," slide one over the other. This will make the paddle.

    • 6

String a small rubber band around the extended ends of both of the chopsticks.

    • 7

Set the paddle between the rubber band, so that the bands hold it in place. You may use another piece to duct-tape it in place if desired.

    • 8

Wind up the paddle on the rubber band when the boat is placed in water, and watch it go.
