Things You'll Need
Instructions
Open an airmail letter-size envelope and place one hand inside. Use your other hand to bend the envelope at the center of the bottom crease so the two lower corners meet. Fold the envelope along the new crease formed by this bending to make it permanent. The interior of this folded space will be the puppet's mouth.
Draw a mouth inside the folded space. Use a red marker to draw a circle. The crease at the back of the puppet's mouth should bisect this circle. Draw red lips on the exterior of the mouth with the marker.
Draw eyes on the upper part of the paper puppet's head, one on each side. These should be large and circular to increase the connection between the audience and the puppet. Draw eyelashes to reinforce that the puppet is female.
Glue a small, disposable mop head to the upper surface of the puppet's head. This will stand for Amelia Earhart's hair. Arrange it so that the mop strands fall evenly to both sides.
Cut a hole in a sock at the point where the heel would normally be placed. Slip one hand into the sock and extend your thumb through the hole so it sticks out. attach a small piece of double-faced tape to the toe of the sock and insert this sock, with your hand still in it, into the paper puppet's head. You thumb should be able to control the lower jaw while the remainder of your hand controls the upper jaw.
Pull a doll's dress down over the head of the puppet to disguise the part of your arm not covered by the sock. The dress should be as stylish and colorful as you can find. Amelia Earhart was a clothes designer as well and you may mention this in a presentation.
