How to Build a Lego Falcon

The Lego Millenium Falcon Ultimate Collector Series comes with over 5,000 pieces, including five mini-figures based on the characters from "Star Wars." The base of the Falcon is the most important build and requires the most attention. All of your pieces attach to this initial base, so maintaining an organized work area ensures that you can easily find each piece that you need while building. If you are planning to sell your Lego item as a collector's piece, consider building the other toys in the series, including other fighter ships, droids and the Death Star.

Instructions

    • 1

Look through your instruction booklet and study the picture of the Lego Falcon. Find all the pieces on your parts list. If you lost your booklet, look online for instructions and part lists for Lego Set 10179. Arrange all of your pieces by shape and color according to the picture, organizing pieces for mini-figures, wings, axle and bars. In the Falcon set, you also find red, blue, gray and yellow Legos.

    • 2

Push together the pieces for the Falcon mini-figures, including Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Obi-wan Kenobi.

    • 3

Start building the base of the falcon first. You need a black brick with an open center to build upon. Arrange the corresponding pieces around the black brick. The base includes multiple gray bricks that form the wingspan of the Falcon. When finished with the base, you should have a long hollow rectangle made of gray pieces with two long gray Lego bricks perpendicular to the rectangle.

    • 4

Build onto the two bricks perpendicular to the long rectangle. Start with another open center black brick and add on thin light gray bricks, attaching to the ends of the bricks sticking out perpendicular from the rectangle. When finished, you should have a T-shaped base.

    • 5

Find two yellow 90-degree corner bricks. Attach the first yellow brick at the center of the first base that you built on the bottom and parallel to where the bases cross at the center of the T-shape. You need one yellow corner brick on each side of the first base in the same position. Push in a red technic pin Lego to the corner of the yellow pieces.

    • 6

Attach the thin long gray Legos to the ends of the yellow bricks and to the center of the second base of the T-shape to form a smaller rectangle. Repeat for the other side. If you have issues figuring out this part of the build, look at your instruction manual.

    • 7

Build on the inside of the smaller rectangles. Attach two more corner yellow pieces on the inside corners of the smaller rectangle. Repeat for both sides of the Falcon's base.

    • 8

Build on the inside of the smaller rectangles. Attach two more corner yellow pieces on the inside corners of the smaller rectangle. Repeat for both sides of the Falcon's base.

    • 9

Push in the red tech pins to each yellow corner piece as directed in the instructions. When finished, you should have attached 13 red pins to the yellow pins and eight red pins to the center of the T-shape as directed.

    • 10

Build on the top of the T-shape at the center to extend the center rectangle and set up the shooter guns of the Falcon. For this section, you need several thin gray pieces and light yellow squares. When finished, build the basic gun bases. You need thin gray bricks and gray tech pins. When this step is complete, you should see the basic shape of the Falcon with the shooter guns sticking out from the center on one side, and the base of the ship on the other.

    • 11

Add the rest of your Lego pieces on top of the base. You continue to build all of the inside parts of the Falcon as well as the red and yellow stripe pieces and discs that sit on top of the Falcon. Follow the instructions as you work, and keep your pieces organized for quicker building. The complete Lego build takes several hours. Ask a friend to build with you to complete the model faster.
