How to Make a Fort Out of Four Chairs & Blankets to Make Hiding Spots

Some children enjoy creating a place of their own in which they can play and hide out from their parents or siblings. Using their imaginations, they can pretend that a simple blanket fort becomes just about anything from a ship on the sea to an isolated home in the middle of the desert. With a few blankets and four chairs, you can help your child create a fort with hiding places where he can let his imagination go wild.

Instructions

    • 1

Position the four chairs in a square, spaced apart just far enough that the blanket that will serve as the roof can span all four chairs with at least an inch of overhang. Face the seats of the chairs toward the inside of the fort to create hiding spaces within the fort.

    • 2

Drape one blanket over the tops of the chairs, securing each of the four corners around the back of each chair with a clothes pin.

    • 3

Overlap additional blankets over each side of the fort to full enclose the four chairs. Clip each blanket to the blanket across the top using clothes pins. For the door of the fort, position two blankets so they slightly overlap each other to create a tent-like opening over the fort door. Use clothes pins to secure the door shut from the inside.
