How to Attach Straps to a Toy Snowboard

Young riders just starting out in snowboarding typically do so with toy boards. Built to mimic larger "grown-up" snowboards, toy snowboards give children adventures on snow with equipment made for young feet and coordination. Toy snowboards may have hook-and-loop fasteners that get threaded into small bars on the boards, or they might have plastic highback-style bindings that must be screwed onto the boards. Whatever style you get for your child, make sure you get the straps and bindings onto the board so the child keeps her boots solidly on the snowboard.

Things You'll Need

  • Hook-and-loop elastic straps (optional)

Instructions

  1. Hook-and-Loop Style

    • 1

Open the two pieces of the hook-and-loop straps. Thread one side through the front bars on the snowboard. Keep the strap going under the two bars with the hook portion facing up.

    • 2

Repeat Step 1 for the rear strap and bars.

    • 3

Have the child step onto the board with each foot between a set of bars and under the strap.

    • 4

Pull out, up and over to marry the hook-and-loop sections together tightly. This secures the child's boots to the board.

    Highback Style

    • 5

Align the bindings to the toy snowboard's screw holes. There are right and left bindings that have curves in the feet like shoes or boots. Align the right to the right and the left to the left.

    • 6

Screw the bindings to the boards via the binding and board holes. If your toy snowboard bindings have washers along with the screws, be sure each washer is between the binding and the screw head.

    • 7

Place the child's feet into the bindings, and bring the straps around the boots and thread them into the ratchet tightening system. Pull the straps through the ratchet until they are tight and the boots are secure in the bindings.
