Things You'll Need
Instructions
Paint the box using water-based exterior house paint. Place a drop cloth outside with the box on top to catch any drips or spills while painting. Keep children away from the paint. They will be able to help during the decorating stage.
Mark the location of the windows and doors with a pencil. A window or door on all four sides of the box will provide sunshine and views for the inhabitants inside the playhouse.
Cut along the marks made for the windows and doors with the utility knife. This procedure should be done by an adult. Cut three times -- once for the outer paper, once for the flute, and once for the inner lining, according to Mr. McGroovy's plans.
Fold down the top 1-inch edge of fabric to make the curtains. Tape this edge down with the string placed inside the fold. Place the thumb tacks along the top edge of the window. Secure the string around the thumb tack by wrapping and tying the string. Adjust the length of the curtain, if needed by cutting off the bottom edge.
Use markers to draw potted plants at the entryway and window ledges. Draw a wreath on the front door. Draw a fireplace with a mantel on an inside wall. Place a throw rug and a small table in the playhouse. Let the fun begin!
