The Best Way to Wet a Homemade Slip 'n Slide

A homemade slip and slide is an excellent way to beat the summer heat. Any slick surface can serve as a slide; tarps and garbage bags are low cost and easy to set up. Once your homemade slip and slide is in place, you'll need to find a way to keep it wet. If the material is not kept wet, you won't be able to slide on it. If you're only able to keep it wet in certain places, you may find your slip and slide is fun until you hit a dry spot. Keeping your slip and slide wet ensures you'll have an enjoyable and safe experience.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your slip and slide on a hill, with the finish line at the bottom. Water runs downhill; putting the slide on a hill helps slide speed and water distribution.

    • 2

Lock the oscillating sprinkler so that it sprays in one direction. Most oscillating sprinklers include a lock function for watering one specific part of a yard.

    • 3

Connect the sprinkler to a garden hose and run the other end of the hose to an outdoor faucet.

    • 4

Place the sprinkler next to the slip and slide and turn on the water. Position the sprinkler so that it evenly coats the length of the slide. If it doesn't cover the entire length, place it near the top and let the water run down.
