How to Make a Double Lightsaber That Comes Apart

Jedi knights in the Star Wars movies used sword-like weapons called lightsabers in battle. With the introduction of Darth Maul, the double-ended lightsaber has become a coveted weapon by Jedi wannabes everywhere. There are many ways to construct your own double-ended lightsaber without spending a lot of time or money. The task requires imagination since no two lightsabers are alike.

Things You'll Need

  • Two 6-inch chrome pipes
  • One 4-inch connector pipe (threaded on both ends)
  • Two flashlights
  • Two 2-feet lengths of clear PVC pipe
  • Two squares of red or blue cellophane
  • Eight rubber O rings
  • 4-inch strip of weatherstripping
  • Duct or electrical tape

Instructions

    • 1

Screw each one of the two 6-inch pipes into the ends of the connecting pipe.

    • 2

Wrap the weatherstripping around the connecting pipe to form the grip of your lightsaber. Most weatherstripping is self adhesive, but if yours is not, attach it with an adhesive that you can use on metal.

    • 3

Space your O rings out on the 6-inch pipes, allowing four rings on each side. These add a bit of decoration to your lightsaber as well as enlarge your grip section.

    • 4

Tape one square of cellophane to the head of each flashlight. If your cellophane is thin, double it to enhance the color.

    • 5

Slide one flashlight down inside each of the chrome pipes. The flashlight should be small enough to fit inside the pipe while leaving the head sticking out the end of the pipe.

    • 6

Slide the PVC pipes down over the head of each flashlight. Secure the PVC to the flashlight and the flashlight to the chrome pipes using tape.

    • 7

Unscrew one of the pipes at the connector piece to create two separate weapons if desired.
