How to Grow a Tamagotchi

Tamagotchis are small, egg-shaped, plastic, electronic pets that can be kept on a keychain or clipped onto a backpack. Released in 1996 by Japanese toy maker, Bandai, Tamagotchis are extremely popular with children and may help teach them responsibility due to the time commitment the toy requires. The growth and health of your Tamagotchi depends on the amount of time you spend caring for your virtual pet. Additional care can help your Tamagotchi grow more quickly.

Instructions

Monitor your Tamagotchi's food needs by selecting the hunger meter icon. Press the "A" button to display your Tamagotchi's hunger and happiness statistics. This information is measured by electronic hearts. The more hearts you have, the happier and more satiated your Tamagotchi will be.

Feed your Tamagotchi by pressing the "A" button to select the "Feed" icon. Press the "B" button to select a piece of food or a snack to feed your Tamagotchi. Monitor the hearts next to the hunger icon to ensure that you do not overfeed your Tamagotchi, causing it to get sick or overweight. Sickness can impair your Tamagotchi's growth.

Increase your Tamagotchi's rate of growth by playing games repeatedly. Tamagotchis begin as eggs, hatch into babies and then evolve into children, teenagers and adults. Tamagotchis grow at a rate of one year per day, but you can increase the rate of growth by playing the jump game four times in a row, followed by playing the bump game four times in a row. Access games by pressing the "A" button to select the "Game" icon. Press the "B" button to select the jump game or the bump game.

Treat your Tamagotchi's illness to avoid growth impairment. If your Tamagotchi becomes ill, the skull icon will flash. Press the "A" button to select "Health" and follow by pressing the "B" button to nurse your Tamagotchi back to health.
