Things You'll Need
Instructions
Clean off the crack with a damp towel. Clean off the entire work area to remove all dirt and debris. Any debris left on the boomerang, especially in the crack, can prevent the fiberglass resin and fiberglass tape from adhering properly. Allow the boomerang to dry when finished cleaning.
Insert fiberglass resin into the crack by holding a bottle of resin at a 45-degree angle with the applicator pointed over the crack. Squeeze the bottle gently until the resin comes out. Move slowly along the length of the crack until resin fills the entire crack. Allow the resin to dry according to the instructions on the bottle. This typically takes an hour, but depends on several factors including temperature and humidity.
Tightly wrap the cracked area with a single layer of fiberglass tape. Hold the tape down over the crack and wrap around until you reach the beginning of the tape again. Cut and place the rest of the tape on the boomerang. This thin layer of fiberglass tape reinforces the damaged area and prevents the crack from getting worse. Furthermore, fiberglass tape is light and adds little weight to the boomerang, resulting in only minor flight pattern deviations.
Test the boomerang by throwing it to see if it returns. Continued issues indicate further damage to the boomerang, and possibly indicates the damage is too severe to fix. Otherwise, the fiberglass resin and fiberglass table should be sufficient to fix most minor to moderate cracks resulting from collisions.
