Nail a hole into two metal caps from juice bottles. Thread a 12-inch piece of yarn into each hole. Have your child place the bottom of her shoes on each bottle cap, and tie the yarn in place over the top of the shoe.

    • 2

Superglue two pennies, spaced at about a quarter inch apart, onto the front bottom section of a pair of thick-soled shoes. Make sure the glue dries before your kids wear the shoes.

    • 3

Cut a 2 12-inch pieces of yarn, and thread each piece through a large, flat metal washer. With the shoes on your child's foot, tie the washers on with a knot on the top and the washers underneath the bottom toe. For a more permanent effect, use superglue to apply the washers to the soles of the shoes.
