How to Make a Yo-Yo Slip Knot

Since ancient times the yo-yo has entertained children and adults alike. The basic yo-yo design has lent itself to various purposes, from toy to hunting weapon. During the evolution of the yo-yo one thing has remained constant: the necessity of attaching the yo-yo string securely to the finger. A slip knot satisfies this purpose. The design of the knot also allows the user to customize the size of the loop for a comfortable fit.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the yo-yo upright on the ground directly beside either foot. Hold the string upright along your side.

    • 2

Mark a spot on the string 2 to 3 inches above your navel. To mark the spot, use a felt pen or simply pinch the string where the spot would be.

    • 3

Set the yo-yo on a table. Fold the string over on itself at the point where the string is marked.

    • 4

Pass the folded section of the string beneath itself to form a loop. Thread the folded section through the loop. Pull on the end of the loop to create a knot.

    • 5

Use scissors to cut the excess string from the side of the knot.

    • 6

Pinch a section of string below the knot. Pass the pinched section through the loop at the end of the string.

    • 7

Place a finger through the new loop. The loop forms a slip knot around the finger.
