How to Make a Brush Bot

Did you know you can make your own miniature robot out of your toothbrush? With a few electronic items you already have laying around your house, you can create endless hours of entertainment for you and your friends. Since these little robots are so simple to make, you can make five or six and have Brush Bot races.

Things You'll Need

Head of a toothbrush
Scissors
Foam tape
Pager motor
Watch battery
Copper wires
Soldering iron

Instructions

  Cut off the handle of the toothbrush, leaving just the head with the bristles. Make sure to use a toothbrush that has bristles with alternating angles.

  Apply a small piece of foam tape to the top of the toothbrush.

  Solder two copper wires to the motor terminals on the vibrating pager motor.

  Attach the pager motor on top of the foam tape. Bend one of the copper leads so that it is flush with the foam tape. This will allow you to make an electrical connection as well as stick the battery to the foam tape.

  Place the battery on top of the copper lead and secure it onto the foam tape. Place the other copper lead onto the top side of the battery.
