How to Make a Nose Guard

A nose guard on a skateboard protects the wood of the board from damage when the nose is kicked or scraped against the ground. Some skateboards come with a nose guard, while others do not. If your skateboard does not have a nose guard -- or the original nose guard has worn away -- you can create your own for much less than the cost of a new one; and it will be a custom fit for your board.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the glue stick over a stove burner set to medium heat or blow it with a hairdryer on high heat to heat up the stick slightly, until it becomes a bit softer.

    • 2

Lay the glue stick on a paper towel and cut it in half lengthwise with the knife. Wipe away any excess glue with the paper towel. If the stick is still too hard to cut with the knife, heat it longer, but avoid overheating and melting the stick.

    • 3

Heat the glue stick over the stove burner or blow it with the hairdryer until it begins to get very soft, almost to the point of melting. The glue stick will start to appear more clear.

    • 4

Line up the center of the glue stick with the center of the front of your skateboard and press the flat side of the glue stick against the edge of the board. Apply pressure to the stick, stretching it across the front edge of the board and smooth it out to create the shape you would like.
