Things You'll Need
Instructions
Scout around your house or head to a local toy store to procure a radio-controlled car. The most inexpensive model available will work.
Set the controller that comes with the RC car aside for now.
Remove the plastic pieces of the RC car that comprise the shell that encases the car's wheel base. Discard these pieces.
Examine the unit's wheel base. There are two servos, or motors, on this base. Each is a relatively small, circular black component with a two-wire lead extending out of each. Leave these in place on the base as they are.
Remove the battery pack and receiver board. The battery pack is a black, rectangular component that should be clearly marked, while the receiver board is a green rectangular circuit board with a number of open channels at one end that can accommodate wiring from other components. Set both these pieces aside.
Prepare four fastener pieces for your receiver and battery. Take two hook-and-loop fastener strips and cut each into two separate sides using scissors. One side will be the hooks side while the other will be the loops side. You will have two of each.
Place a thin layer of professional strength glue onto the back of each of the hook-and-loop fastener pieces.
Apply one of the loops pieces to the back of the battery and the other piece to the back of the receiver.
Fix one of the hooks pieces to the top center of the wheel base and the other to the bottom center of the base.
Connect the receiver to the top of the wheel base by pressing its loops piece down onto the hooks piece on the base.
Connect the battery onto the bottom of the wheel base in the same manner as you did the receiver.
Insert the two-wire lead coming out of each servo into a separate channel on the end of the receiver.
Insert the wire leading out of the battery into another separate channel on the receiver. Do not wire any of the components into the same part of the receiver.
Make your bot into a bully by adding weaponry to give it a "battle bot" classification. One option is to attach as a small log to the end of the base of the bot using carpenter's glue. This will supply your bully bot with a ramming weapon.
Add a puncturing weapon to your bot as an alternative to the ram or to augment it. Take a flathead screwdriver and file its tip down to a sharp point, then attach it to the edge of the wheel base with professional strength glue or duct tape. This will create a spear for your bully bot.
Turn on the controller that came with the RC car. It can now be used to control the movement of the bully bot and will communicate with its receiver board.
