How to Read Mood Rings

Mood rings were started as a fad in the 1970s and are making a bit of a comeback. These rings tend to be popular with children and teenagers for changing their color when the wearer's mood shifts. They come in all shapes and sizes, and in different styles: a classic band that starts out blue or green and shifts from there, or a black band with glitter that changes color once it's put on. Although there has yet to be a proven correlation between the temperature-induced color changes and corresponding moods, mood rings can still provide a great deal of entertainment.

Instructions

    • 1

Acquire a mood ring that fits snugly but comfortably on your finger. The better the ring fits, the faster it will respond to your body temperature.

    • 2

Wait for the ring to adapt to your body temperature. Try to hold still, as changing to a warmer or colder environment or changing your body temperature through exercise can alter the reading of the ring.

    • 3

Observe the color it has turned and find your mood from the following: red means unsettled; yellow, strained; light green, slightly relaxed; dark green, mixed emotions; light blue, love; dark blue, completely relaxed; purple, very happy or passionate; and black, anxious.
