How to Attach a Fishing Line to an RC Fishing Boat

Attaching a fishing line to your RC fishing boat allows you to tow it back in if it accidentally strays out of your controller's range. With this simple safety feature, you are able to take your RC boat into larger bodies of water like lakes and rivers. The two most important components of attaching a fishing line to your boat are the strength of the line and the durability of the tape. If either component fails, you may find yourself swimming out into deep water to recover a derelict RC boat.

Things You'll Need

30 feet high-tensile fishing line
Waterproof duct tape
Toilet paper tube
Scissors

Instructions

  Flatten the toilet paper tube. Make a .5-inch cut in one end of the flattened tube.

  Cut two strips of tape, about 3 by 1 inches each. Tape the fishing line to the front of the bow, adhering the second piece at an angle to the first to ensure a good grip.

  Roll the excess fishing line around the flattened toilet paper tube, as you might with a kite. Slip a bit of the line into the slit you cut to keep the line from unraveling. Unhook the line when you send the boat out and simply reroll the line around the tube to bring your boat back to land.
