How to Make a Working LEGO Beyblade

Beyblade is a Japanese manga series written by Takao Aoki. The series is about a group of kids who form teams to battle one another using highly powerful spinning tops called "Beyblades." These blades are enchanted with mystical powers. The beyblade comes in a variety of styles such as phase Gyro and Apocalypse. However, for beginners, you can create your very own LEGO Beyblade phase without spending a lot of money. All you need are plates and a couple of accessories.

  • 2-by-4 red plate (4)
  • 2-by-8 yellow plate
  • 2-by-3 yellow plate (2)

Instructions

    • 1

Lay a 4-by-4 black piece with the front side down on a flat surface.

    • 2

Connect two 2-by-4 red plate pieces in an L shape on the back of the 4-by-4 black plate. Snap one piece vertically on the right side of the plate halfway and another plate horizontally. Add two more 2-by-4 red plate pieces on the left side of the 4-by-4 gray plate in an upside-down L shape. This should cover the whole backside of the 4-by-4 black plate and the shape looks like a shuriken (Japanese weapon).

    • 3

Add a 2-by-8 yellow plate vertically in the middle of the 2-by-4 red plate pieces. Then add a 2-by-3 yellow plate on both sides of the 2-by-8 yellow plate. This should create a cross.

    • 4

Grab four 3-by-3 gray corner plates. Connect a 3-by-3 gray corner plate piece on all four corners of the structure. The whole back side is now covered and has a hexagon shape.

    • 5

Turn the structure to the front side and lay it on a flat surface. You should now see the 4-by-4 piece as the top piece. Snap a 1-by-2-by-2 red corner plate in an upside-down L beside each corner next to a 2-by-4 red plate piece, totaling four 1-by-2-by-2 red corner plates.

    • 6

Add a 1-by-1-by-2/3 translucent red roof tile in all four corners of the 1-by-2-by-2 red corner plate.
