Design
River Hawk Boats have the appearance of a canoe but they are more stable. Canoes are relatively easy to tip when standing in them or getting in and out, but they are light weight and easy to carry. The River Hawk Boat aims to create a hybrid between the convenience of a canoe with the sturdiness of a boat. The hull of the hawk boat is wider than a canoe, but it get more narrow and resembles a canoe at the front.
Engine
Because the hull is wider, it can support a larger engine than a canoe. Though canoes aren't generally equipped with a motor, some owners put a small electric motor on the back. With River Hawk Boats, the engine can be much larger to get you out of choppy waves. The wider hull also allows you to paddle at the front of the boat, without the possibility of having the back tip up, which is common with canoes.
Stability
The River Hawk features chines that sit on either side of the boat. This minimizes the rocking that often takes place on lakes and in rivers. These chines also allow you to stand up in the boat to cast a fishing line into the water, for example. In fact, the boat is ideal for paddling into shallow areas of lakes and rivers without scaring the fish off. The shallow design provides you with security that the bottom of the boat won't scrape the waterbed.
Materials
The boats are built with hand-laid fiberglass, which makes them very sturdy. Marine composite materials and marine-grade foam are also used. This adds to the light weight of the boat and the ability for it to float. Side rails are made of metal or vinyl. The hull is equipped with metal transom motor brackets for reinforcement of your motor. The boat isn't constructed out of any wood, which means it won't rot.
