How to Make LEGO WWII Planes

World War II was a global conflict that lasted from 1939 to 1945. A number of combat aircraft of the time were designed and built in the U.S. Among them were: the North American Aviation P-51 Mustang, the Chance Vought F4U Corsair, and the Boeing B-29 Superfortress. If you are a fan of the war planes of WWII, you can create your own mini-plane with LEGO pieces. However, you will need the right LEGO pieces to create a simple WWII plane.

Things You'll Need

  • White 2-by-2 plate
  • White 2-by-4 plate
  • White 2-by-2 triangular plate
  • Red 2-by-4 plate
  • Red 1-by-2 plate
  • 2 gray lamp holders
  • 2 white 1-by-6 plates

Instructions

    • 1

Lay a gray 2-by-8 plate on a flat surface and attach a white 2-by-2 plate on the four lumps at the edge of the gray 2-by-8 plate.

    • 2

Attach the middle part of the white 2-by-4 plate on the four lumps of the gray 2-by-8 plate in front of the white 2-by-2 plate.

    • 3

Snap the mid-section of the white 2-by-2 triangular plate onto the four lumps of the gray 2-by-8 plate in front of the white 2-by-4 plate.

    • 4

Connect a 2-by-4 red plate vertically on the last part of the gray 2-by-8 plate.

    • 5

Turn the structure around to the front of the plane and attach a red 1-by-2 plate on top of the white 2-by-2 plate at the edge. Then, add a gray lamp holder piece in the back of the red 1-by-2 plate on both sides of the structure on top of the white 2-by-2 plate. The gray lamp holders will act as the headlights.

    • 6

Attach two white 1-by-6 plates vertically in front of the lamp holder pieces in the mid-section of the structure.

    • 7

Connect the wings. Attach a white "left plate 3-by-6 w. angle" on the white 2-by-4 plate that you attached earlier in Step 2 just behind the lamp holder piece on one side. Repeat the step on the other side of the structure for the white "right plate 3-by-6 w. angle." These are the front wings of the WWII plane.

    • 8

Attach a white "right plate 2-by-4 w/angle" on the last two lumps showing on the 2-by-4 red plate that was added in Step 4. Add the "left plate 2-by-4 w/angle" on the last two lumps on the 2-by-4 red plate. These are the back wings.

    • 9

Attach a yellow 1-by-1 round plate on both lamp holder pieces. Then connect two red 1-by-2 gray plates and place them in the middle of the red 1-by-2 plate that is in front of the lamp holder pieces. Add a red 1-by-6 plate horizontally behind the 1-by-2 plates.

    • 10

Connect a red 2-by-4 plate, vertically, in the mid-section behind the 1-by-6 red plate. Then attach a white 2-by-4 plate, vertically, behind the red 2-by-4 plate. The white 2-by-4 plate should extend beyond the plane like a tail.

    • 11

Add the gray "bearing element 2-by-2, single" on the last two lumps of the 1-by-2 red plates in the front of the WWII plane to act as your propeller. The propeller "nose" part should extend past the structure. Place a 1-by-2 brick underneath the propeller piece.

    • 12

Slide the actual propeller onto the "nose" of the "bearing element 2-by-2, single" piece. Attach a red 2-by-4 plate, vertically, behind the "bearing element 2-by-2, single" piece. Then attach a gray 1-by-2 brick with two horizontal snaps on both sides of the wings as guns.

    • 13

Connect three "1-by-2 plate w. 1 knob" behind each other on the last six lumps on the back of the plane. Lastly, attach a "roof tile w. lattice 1-by-2-by-2/3" horizontally on both sides of the back wings close to the "1-by-2 plate w. 1 knob" pieces.
