How to Remove Fisher-Price Fasteners on Music Boxes

Fisher-Price manufactures several styles of wind-up music boxes for children. Some are designed to play records and others are for teaching basic skills, such as how to tell time. Each music box is prepackaged in an open cardboard container so you can see and try the product at the store before committing to a purchase. Fisher-Price secures the product to the packaging with heavy plastic fasteners that are intended both to hold the product to the package and deter shoplifting. Once you get the music box home, you'll want to remove the fasteners.

Things You'll Need

  • Heavy-duty scissors or cutting shears

Instructions

    • 1

Open the top flap on the Fisher-Price packaging to slide out the music box product. The music box is attached to a cardboard backing plate printed with features and instructions.

    • 2

Turn over the product to locate the fasteners holding it to the packaging.

    • 3

Slide the pointed tip of the scissors or cutting shears between the heavy plastic fastener and the packaging. Cut the fasteners one at a time.

    • 4

Pull the product away from the packaging and each fastener, one at a time. If a plastic fastener tears through the cardboard, pull the edge of it through the plastic loops in the back of the music box to remove and discard the fastener.
