How to Make LEGO Dragons

Legos are building block toys for children and adults. They include thousands of kinds of toy pieces, from basic types like bricks and plates to specialized pieces like a light sword stick, diamond, and dragon flames. A dragon is a fun little project for all ages. You can make it attack a castle of Lego people or place it on a lego mountain. Expect to spend less than 30 minutes putting together your Lego dragon.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach two 2 x 2 angle plates to a 2 x 2 brick. Attach two more 2 x 2 angle plates perpendicular to the first two plates. This produces a brick with four 2 x 2 studs on top and four other faces that each have 2 x 2 studs.

    • 2

Attach a 3 x 2 plate to one of the vertical faces of the brick. Attach a 1 x 2 slanted tile to the top of the 3 x 2 plate. Attach another 1 x 2 slanted tile to the bottom of the 3 x 2 plate. Attach a jumper to the center two studs of the 3 x 2 plate. Attach a dragon flame piece to the jumper stud. This creates a roaring mouth shooting flames.

    • 3

Attach four upright holders to the top of the brick. An upright holder looks like a pincher extending upright from a plate. It holds pole-shaped lego pieces. Attach four right holders to each of the two vertical surfaces next to the mouth. The right holder has a pincher extending out of the side of the plate. It looks like a two-fingered robot hand and also holds pole-shaped lego pieces. This gives the top of the head and the jowels a spiked look. Attach a glowing round 1 x 1 stud to the top stud on each vertical face closest to the mouth. This gives the dragon two eyes. Attach three 1 x 1 bricks on the three other studs around each eye on the same vertical face. This widens the dragon's head and skull.

    • 4

Attach two 1 x 2 hinged plates to the vertical face opposite the mouth. Attach another pair of 1 x 2 hinged plates to the first hinged plates. Continue this process until you have enough to make the neck as long as you want it. Attach a 2 x 2 brick to each pair of hinged plates. Repeat the process you performed to make the head spiky for the neck so that both the neck and head are spiky.

    • 5

Attach one 8 x 2 plate to the last pair of hinged plates. Place the plate perpendicular to the hinged plates to create a long shoulder for the dragon. Attach a 2 x 8 brick to the 2x8 plate on either side of the hinged pair. This begins to create the torso of the dragon. Support the pair of bricks by attaching a 6 x 6 plate on top of them.

    • 6

Attach a 1 x 2 one-hole brick to either end of the shoulder plate. Insert a connector peg into the hole and another 1 x 2 one-hole brick into that connector. This creates two shoulder sockets for the arms. Attach a 1 x 2 angle plate onto the outer 1 x 2 one-hole brick. Attach a 2 x 5 plate to the outer face of the 1 x 2 angle plate. This creates the upper arm.

    • 7

Attach upward and right holders to the upper arm to give it spikes. Attach a brick underneath it to give it depth. Attach a right-angle hinge to the bottom of the upper arm, and attach a 4 x 2 plate to the hinge to create a lower arm. Repeat the steps for the upper arm on the lower arm. Attach a 1 x 2 one-hole brick with a peg connector and complementary 1 x 2 one-hole brick to the end of the lower arm. This creates the wrist. Attach another 1 x 2 angle plate to the outer one-hole brick. Attach a pair of 1 x 2 hinged plates to the angle plate. Attach another 1 x 2 hinged plate going in the opposite direction of the first two. This creates a three-fingered hand for your dragon.

    • 8

Repeat the steps you used to create the two arms to create two legs. Add extra bricks to make the legs beefier than the arms, if desired.

    • 9

Repeat the steps you used to create the neck to create a tail. Make the tail longer than the neck. Add extra bricks near the base where it extends from the torso.

    • 10

Add extra bricks to the top and bottom of the torso plate to give the dragon a belly and a bigger back.

    • 11

Connect a pair of hinged plates on either side of the black perpendicular to the arms. Attach a right 4 x 9 plate to either hinged pair to create the wings.

    • 12

Add extra decorations, such as more upward holders for spikes, or other colored bricks to make the dragon mottled.
