How to Use a Throw Top

Place the knotted end of the launch rope against the side of the top. Then, holding the top upright, wrap the rope once around the top portion of the toy (there should be a groove to set the rope in position).

Cross the rope over the knot to grip the top of the toy, then wrap the remainder of the rope around the pointed end of the top, starting at the very bottom and working your way up until there are only a few inches of rope left.

Hold the end of the rope in your fingers, then throw the top across your body (the same motion used to throw a Frisbee) while aiming to launch the top a few feet in front of you. Extend your arm out, then whip it back once the string has nearly unraveled from the top. This force should jerk the top into a quick spin, launching it onto the floor.

Rewrap the top to launch it again once the toy has stopped spinning.
