Turn off the Gator. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen and remove the safety screw on the brush guard/battery door at the front of the vehicle.
Grasp the flaps on either side of the battery door, then pull them outwards to unhook them. Flip the battery door down.
Grasp the metal retaining rod in front of the battery and slide it completely through the right side of the vehicle. This will allow you to reach the battery.
Pull the 12-volt battery halfway out of the battery compartment to reach the battery cables. Disconnect the cable that connects the battery to the vehicle, then pull the battery completely out of the compartment.
Connect the battery cable to the end of the 12-volt battery recharger cable. Plug the recharger cable into an electrical outlet.
Let the battery charge for 18 to 24 hours. Check the battery every four to six hours to make sure that it isn't leaking or overheating.
Disconnect the plug from the electrical outlet once the battery is fully charged. Disconnect the recharger cable from the battery cable. Make sure the battery lid is securely closed.
Slide the battery halfway into the battery compartment and reconnect the battery cable to the vehicle. Slide the battery the rest of the way into the battery compartment.
Insert the metal retaining bar back into place to secure the battery in the compartment. Flip the battery door up, replace the safety screw and tighten it.
