Geometric Shapes
This is what the Buckyball was born from and is typically the easiest thing to replicate for beginners. Try your hand at a rectangle, square or octagonal shape. Flat triangles are also popular figures for the toy. See how many different shapes you can make one after the other. Invite a friend over with a second Buckyball and practice making shapes. Race one another to see who is the real Buckyball master!
Stick Figures
Because of Buckyball's magnetic tendencies and angular structure, making still lifes are limited to stick figures. Still, you can make a stick figure in motion or part of a particular background or scene. Try making a figure that will stand up on its own or keep its shape once you've quit holding on. Display your "Buckyman" around the house in humorous or surprising poses.
Animals
If you can make a person out of Buckyballs you can make an animal just as easily. Attempt the basics before anything else. Try your hand at a dog, cat or bird. Any animal you've seen at the zoo or on TV is fair game. Once you've been successful at a few, move on to something more difficult like an elephant or a giraffe. Any animal with distinctive features will work well.
Buckyball World
If you own more than a couple Buckyballs, you can combine several projects and make an entire Buckyworld. Create some high-rise buildings or some street-level stores and have a Bucky figure peruse the store shop windows while he walks his dog. Add some cars to zip up and down the Buckystreet. Take a picture of it after you're done and submit it to the Buckyball blog for chances to win special prizes available only through the company.
