How to Remove the Air Restrictor in a Nerf Recon CS-6

Nerf blasters, like the Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6, are the next generation of Nerf toys, which have advanced over the years from the Nerf basketball and football. The Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 has a retractable stock, flip-up sights and a targeting light beam mounted on the lower portion of the barrel. Nerf blasters are powered by springs that are mounted internally inside the main blaster unit. The spring works in conjunction with a small plastic piece called an air restrictor. Removal of the air flow restrictor can help the CS-6 fire longer distances.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the barrel extension on the CS-6 by twisting it to the left and pulling it straight forward and off.

    • 2

Slide the flip-up sights off the front end of the CS-6's main body.

    • 3

Lay the Nerf CS-6 down on a flat surface on its right side.

    • 4

Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the main body together.

    • 5

Remove the blaster's firing tube and then unscrew the two screws on its rear side. Remove the spring from the rear of the tube. Use a pair of wire snips to clip the plastic ends holding the air restrictor in place and then pull it out with the snips.

    • 6

Slide the spring back into the firing tube and replace the rear end of the firing tube.

    • 7

Slip the firing tube back inside the blaster and then reassemble the left-hand side of the blaster. Re-install the screws to hold the body together.

    • 8

Replace the flip-up sights and then twist the barrel extension back on.
