How to Remove the String From the Cupid's Arrow Puzzle

Cupid's Arrow or Cupid's Dart is a metal puzzle shaped like an arrow in which you must remove a string with a small wooden bead on the end to successfully solve the puzzle. Finding the solution requires a careful analysis of the way the metals interact and careful manipulation of the string and metal parts. Knowing the solution to the puzzle can help you finish the puzzle and show it off to friends.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the metal arrow so that the large tip of the triangle points downward. Pull the string down to the bottom of the triangle, with the bead hanging downward.

    • 2

Pull the top of the string into the left upward loop at the top of the arrow triangle. Pull it upward until it goes through the two metal rings wrapped around the arrow shaft. Wrap it around the second ring and pull it downward through the first ring only.

    • 3

Move the rope over top of the left side of the arrow point and move it over the right side. Pull the string towards the first ring again and move it upward, pushing the rope around the top end of the arrow.

    • 4

Drag the string through the second and first ring and out of the left loop through which you originally dragged the string.

    • 5

Move the string over top of the left loop and push it through the first and second rings again. Pull the string over top of the end and push it downward toward the first ring again.

    • 6

Wrap the end of the string around the tip of the arrow point, from right to left and over top of the wooden bead. Pull the string downward through the loops to remove it.
