How to Make Homemade Toys for Toddlers

Before you spend money on expensive toys, consider making toys for your children at home. One of the many benefits to homemade toys is that they're usually something you can't buy in the store. Most of the time these toys can be made inexpensively from things lying around the house and can provide solace from the boredom of playing with existing toys.

Instructions

  1. Squirt Bottles

    • 1

      Clean out old squirt or spray bottles. Clean them well to ensure no soap or chemical residue remains.

      Fill the bottles with water.

      Have the kids take the bottles outside so they don't make a mess inside the house.

    Cardboard Box

      Cut windows and doors in the sides of a large cardboard box to make houses and buildings for pretend fun.

      Give the children paint and let them paint the box many different colors.

      Place multiple boxes together to form tunnels or buildings.

    Kitchen Utensils

      Give children an assortment of old kitchen utensils so they can pretend to cook or play restaurant.
