Instructions on How to Make a Paper Boomerang

Though traditionally used as hunting weapons by Aboriginal Australians, boomerangs are also used for children's throwing games. A boomerang's shape -- either Y-shaped or curved like a sickle -- is designed so the flying weapon returns to the thrower. For safe indoor play, make your own paper boomerang with a few craft supplies.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a boomerang shape on a piece of heavy paper. Make the boomerang in a Y-shape with 3 branches spaced 8 inches apart. Each branch should be 4-inches long, 1-inch wide toward the center and slightly wider toward the outer end. Round off the ends of each branch.

    • 2

Decorate the boomerang with markers, if desired.

    • 3

      Cut out the boomerang.

    • 4

Laminate the boomerang twice, if desired. Laminating will make the boomerang thicker and more durable.
