How to Design a LEGO Character

Lego characters, officially known as minifigures, are small plastic human figurines for use with Lego building playsets. A basic minifigure is made up of a head, torso and legs, all of which can be removed and replaced with similar parts from other minifigures. The torso and legs can be taken apart even further, allowing you to change the each of the hands, arms and legs. Hundreds of accessories are available, providing a countless array of possibilities. However, before you try to build a custom Lego character, take a few minutes to design it.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your web browser and go to Reasonably Clever's online Mini-Mizer tool.

    • 2

Click the right-arrow button in the lower right corner of the screen. This will display a screen of optional hat or hair pieces for your Lego minifigure. Click the smaller arrows in the middle of the screen to view your choices, one at a time. When you've found one you like, choose a color from the palette and click on the hat to apply it to your custom minifigure, which appears on the left of the screen.

    • 3

Continue building your minifigure by selecting other options, such as skin colors, facial features, clothing styles and accessories. Finish by selecting a background color or image.

    • 4

Press the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard to copy the image. Open an image editing program, such as Microsoft Paint, Photoshop or the GIMP, and press Ctrl-V to paste the image onto a page. Resize and crop the image if necessary and print it for reference in building your Lego character.
