How to Troubleshoot a Power Wheels Beach Patrol

The Power Wheels Beach Patrol is manufactured by Fisher Price and is made for children to ride in. The Beach Patrol is a replica of a Jeep Wrangler. It is powered by a 10-volt battery. Power Wheels do not often malfunction, but when they do the problem is typically battery-related. Troubleshooting and repairing a Power Wheels battery is not difficult. The Power Wheel battery is rechargeable. However, over time (usually between one to three years of use) you will have to change out the battery completely.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Lift up the hood of the Power Wheels Beach Patrol to open it.

    • 2

Remove the two fastening screws holding the plastic "engine" in place, which actually acts as a cover for the vehicle's battery.

    • 3

Push in on the two tabs on the wiring harness and disconnect the battery from the vehicle.

    • 4

Remove the 25-amp fuse from the top of the battery with pliers. Inspect the fuse to see if it is blown. If it is, switch it out with a new one. If it isn't, move to the next step.

    • 5

Plug the "charging" end of the charger into the Power Wheels battery. Plug the other end into a 120-volt AC wall socket. Allow the battery to charge 14 hours and then connect it again to the vehicle. If it does not work, you will need to swap out the battery. Most retailers where you buy Power Wheels also sell replacement batteries that range in price from $20 to $50.
