How to Ask a Ouija Board

Although Ouija boards are for entertainment purposes only, people who are easily frightened or overly gullible can feel uncomfortable when asking questions and operating the board. When conducting a Ouija session, certain rules and etiquette must be followed in order for the spirits to respond to your inquiries. With a Ouija board, planchette and a few willing participants, you can ask broad questions as well as personal ones.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide which person in the group will ask the first question. If everyone wants a chance to speak, begin with one person and go in a clockwise circle around the board.

    • 2

Create a name for each spirit so you may address the spirit by name when asking the question. Since some spirits move across the Ouija board faster while others move slower, the planchette used to spell out the answer will move according to the speed of the spirit's response.

    • 3

Start with asking simple yes or no questions in which you know the answer. This will set up a baseline for your planchette movements as well as getting the users comfortable asking the spirits questions.

    • 4

Ask general questions with simple responses once everyone is comfortable conversing with the spirits in the room. Once everyone is comfortable, move onto more personal questions with more sophisticated responses.

    • 5

Spell out the word "GOODBYE" using the planchette on the Ouija board to close the session. Experts say that closing the session correctly is important as it closes the gateway to the spiritual realm.
