Measure and cut two 7 ½-inch strip of duct tape with a craft knife. Clean up the edges of the tape to make them flat and even.
Lay one strip with the sticky side up. Press the other strip on top, sticky-side down. You now have a 7 ½-inch duct tape strip with two non-sticky sides. Trim off any exposed sticky tape with the craft knife to prevent dirt and debris from sticking to it.
Repeat steps one and two with more duct tape. For a two-color ninja star, use a different color duct tape for the second pair of strips.
Lay one of the two non-sticky strips horizontally in front of you.
Bend the top left corner of one strip down, and the bottom right corner of the same strip up. Hold the folded left corner in place and fold the rest of the strip down to make a triangle shape with a strip of tape hanging down on the right. Flip the strip over so the triangle is pointing to the left, then hold the triangle in place and fold the rest of the tape down. Put a weight on the folded duct tape to prevent it from unfolding, and mirror the process with the other strip of duct tape: make the same folds, but from the opposite direction, for example, bend the top right corner down and bend the bottom left corner up.
Take your first ninja star strip and place it vertically so that the top triangle is pointing left and the bottom triangle is pointing right. Take the second folded strip and place it horizontally across the middle of the first strip so the right triangle is pointing up and the left triangle is pointing down.
Fold the top triangle of the first strip down so it overlaps the second strip. Tuck the triangle's point into the pocket of the triangle on the right.
Fold the bottom triangle up and tuck the point into the pocket of the triangle on the left.
Flip the ninja star over. Fold the right triangle over so that it overlaps the first strip, and tuck it into the pocket of the bottom triangle. Last, fold the left triangle over so it overlaps the first strip, and tuck it into the pocket of the top triangle. The duct tape should now look like a ninja star.
Cut a piece of duct tape as wide as the flat, projecting, untangled side of one of the ninja star's triangles. Fold the sticky side of the tape over the triangle side to close the gap. Repeat this process for all of the star's points
