Original Bop It
The first Bop It toy was released in 1996 and the instructions, "twist it," "pull it" and "bop it" were copyrighted. If the command "twist it" was said then you would have to twist a red lever and if the command "pull it" was said then you would have to pull the blue handle. If "bop it" was said then you would have to hit the centre button. There were different types of games you could play which involved playing on your own or in a group but essentially the goal was to follow the highest number of commands.
Bop It Extreme
In 1998 Hasbro then released Bop It Extreme which was essentially the same as the first Bop It toy but with extra commands. The extra instructions were "spin it" and "flick it." The original Bop It was constructed in a linear shape but Bop It extreme was made in a circular shape with two handles.
Bop It Extreme 2
The Bop It Extreme 2 was released two years later and was almost exactly the same toy with slightly different design features. The action parts were altered to be considered more ergonomic and a volume control was added, as well as a headphone jack. This toy also came in different colors which were black, white, pink and a translucent plastic design.
Bop It XT
The latest Bop It toy to be released is the XT which has been featured at toy fairs in 2011. This model has a similar appearance to the Bop It extreme but this has the added command of "shake it". This game will also feature four difficulty levels within the same game modes.
